How to advocate for better healthcare
No one will care more about you than you, so engage, advocate, make wise lifestyle choices that impact your health, and follow through on all health-related matters. You deserve worthwhile healthcare and you do not need to accept the status quo of an inferior standard of care. You must be an engaged and active partner to your health care providers for your health to thrive!
Health Disparities & Schooling | Part 2
Whether we willingly acknowledge it or not, there are barriers in the educational system that disproportionately affect our marginalized populations. Knowing what some of those barriers are is a step in the right direction towards understanding health inequity.

Black and Brown prisoners are at a high risk for poor health outcomes and treatment during incarceration due to pre-existing conditions and poor preventative healthcare options. Nothing so clearly demonstrates the inequity in healthcare access between people of color and the white population more than the mistreatment by the U.S. prison healthcare system.

A lesser education will typically result in poorer health outcomes and health disparities. Addressing and understanding educational barriers can help us focus on improving health literacy and health outcomes for socially disadvantaged populations.
