Doc LaLa’s Closet
Doc LaLa’s Personal Hygiene Closet is a crowd-funding campaign that was created to ensure the dignity, well-being and health of 6th -12th grade students. All students should have access to items and opportunities to maintain personal hygiene.
Families that are on Medicaid or Medicare and fall below the federal poverty threshold are forced to make many tough decisions. Students who qualify for SNAP or WIC cannot use their EBT card to purchase personal hygiene items; they are considered “luxury” items.
Access to personal hygiene products for school-aged children should be a right and not a privilege. The lack of these items create disparities within the educational system, the criminal justice system, and in overall health and wellness.
Who this affects:
Students and their families living without access to proper personal hygiene items. This can negatively impact their education and behavioral health, as well as cause an increased risk for certain chronic health conditions.
Lack of access to personal hygiene items can cause a decrease in self-worth, inability to focus in class and increased daily stress.
100% of proceeds go to Doc LaLa’s Personal Hygiene Closet. We’re not a non-profit organization. Your gift is not tax-deductible.
